The Mission
Elysian Shores Supportive Housing is a veteran-founded 501(c)(3) nonprofit that exists to end homelessness for veterans, families, and families of veterans across California. Based in San Diego, we convert distressed hotels, motels, and commercial buildings into permanent, service-integrated housing.
Our dual-track strategy combines rapid hotel and motel conversions (50+ rooms) for near-term impact with larger-scale downtown office tower conversions for long-term community transformation. We believe every building, like every person, deserves a second chance.
Our Vision
We believe in housing that heals. Each property we convert includes private, trauma-informed living spaces and dedicated on-site service areas for mental health counseling, addiction recovery, job training, healthcare coordination, and 24/7 security.
Our model does more than shelter people; it creates stable platforms where individuals and families can rebuild. Every conversion also revitalizes neighborhoods by transforming vacant, deteriorating properties into active, purpose-driven community assets.
Why This Matters
California faces a housing crisis that spans the entire state, from San Diego to San Francisco. The 2025 Point-in-Time count identified approximately 372 homeless veterans in the City of San Diego alone, alongside nearly 6,000 unhoused individuals. Statewide, the numbers are far larger.
At the same time, hotels and motels are struggling with rising costs, declining occupancy, and deferred maintenance, while downtown office towers sit at historic vacancy rates and are selling at steep discounts.
This rare convergence of social urgency and market opportunity creates a window to deliver lasting change at scale, but that window will not stay open indefinitely.

California's housing crisis demands solutions that are fast, scalable, and financially sustainable. ESSH's dual-track model delivers on all three. Our hotel and motel conversion track can move a property from acquisition to occupancy in under 12 months.
Our office tower track creates high-density, high-impact housing that transforms downtown corridors.
With 21 properties in our active pipeline across San Diego, Riverside, and Orange counties, ranging from $87,000 to $212,000 per door, we are positioned to act now while the acquisition window is open.
By combining Homekey+ grants, CalAIM service revenue, tax credit equity, and mission-aligned investment, ESSH is building California's most efficient permanent supportive housing platform.
